How much do you think age matters in a relationship?  Would you date someone 10+ years older or younger than you?

It doesn't have to matter.

I'm currently dating somebody eight years older than I am, and I honestly don't see how two more years could make much of a difference - not with the two of us, anyhow. It all depends on the individuals involved in the relationship. We both understand that we are at different stages in our lives, and we try our best to help each other through whatever life may bring.

We're best friends - really. We have a lot in common, we get along incredibly well, and when we disagree we can talk it through rationally.

You just have to realize going in that it might not be the same as dating somebody your own age. As in any relationship, communication is key. Be open an honest with one another.

I'd also like to point out that life experience isn't just about your age. It's about the actual experiences themselves. One might experience more in the first fiteen years of their life than another might experience in forty.

Don't shelf the twenty-two year old quite yet, girls and guys, and don't forget that sweet forty year old who offered to buy you coffee. If you felt a connection, you owe yourself - and them - is one date.
It definitely matters...

I've dated both someone 10 years younger and 10 years older. Neither relationship lasted though. I think the differences in life experience and goals can be so significant that it can be a challenge from day one. I do believe that there are some cases where it can work.
